Angioplasty & Cardiac Stenting

A catheter-based procedure that opens narrowed coronary arteries and holds them open with a stent.

During angioplasty, a small balloon is guided through a catheter to a narrowed section of a coronary artery and inflated to restore blood flow. A stent, a small mesh tube, is usually placed to keep the artery open.

The procedure is minimally invasive, so most patients go home the same day and return to normal activities faster than with open surgery.
